Still Camera The major by Anton Tobias After looking at the specifications of the new HDR-HC9, I noticed that the Sony HDR-HC7 (last year model) was almost identical to Sony's new MiniDV technology. I started digging in the specs department for some time, both the Sony website and here on Amazon. I was able to differences between the two to determine: - Sony HDR-HD9 boasts specs that Amazon has been upgraded to a USB 2.0 connection, leaving behind the old 1.1 design, but the spec sheet on page Sony resemble the initial dispute this, claiming that the HDR-HC9 is still plagued by old technology. I have rarely seen any kind of video camera for pictures, I have a 512 MB Memory Stick installed in my unit to "just in case" moment we all have inside Even in the rare occasions when I take a few stills experimentally during the holidays, I always use a card reader to transfer photos to my PC, not USB - The supplied software is obviously made days. The Sony HDR-HC9 comes with Picture Motion Browser version 2.0.17 - If you have stills (and take many of them ... I mean, many of them) does not really matter, the Sony HDR-HC9 can now get a 8GB memory stick compared to 4 GB is the HDR-HC7. - The general color of the new HC9 is black (I prefer the good silver space-age looking for the HC7) but this is only among consumers, no reason to upgrade. - It was on other sites that were located manually on the HDR-HC9 HC7 posted improved. I tried my best to come up with something more, but honestly, that's all I could find. This camcorder is basically the HDR-HC7 with a new coat of paint and some minor modifications. Without saying that this is a bad camera ... far from it. Shot entirely with Sony camcorders and this is by far the best I ever had If you have the HDR-HC7 not be fooled in the update. As the specification above the small differences, you have the new HDR-HC9 least 8 GB of storage capacity Memory Stick and the color scheme of onyx. Compare the specifications of the same, if you find something that differs between these two models, please list in the comments section of this review. I searched for 30 minutes and this is the best I could do. As for the performance of the camera itself ... What can I say? It's a Sony, the top line. If you want to record movies in HD quality, but will not break your bank account, the Sony HDR-HC7 and HDR-HC9 is probably the most suitable for the budgets of most people. I also prefer to shoot with this camera, because the MiniDV tapes used in contrast to all other media platforms such as DVDs, hard drives, flash memory ... etc. This format (MiniDV) is an industry standard, and if you need to edit you plan your videos with computer software (Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas Studio) this is the only way to DVD and HDD camcorders require going to a lot MPEG-2 video compression, and if the video to your PC and edit files in the quality of video is compressed again. Finally, when you burn your finished movie on DVD, the files break down one more time, so the material pixilated and grotesque ... as if someone ran it through a garbage disposal. Something to think about. Product Highlights: - MiniDV (my format of choice) - HDMI port (for quick plug-n-look at your footage in beautiful high def) - Switchable HDV / DV format (just in case you do not need to shoot in HD) - Professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T lens - Widescreen display - Compact size (for an HD camera, this is very practical) product down-points: - I really wish Sony had given us a 25x optical zoom .. . I would give this guy a little over the top as the cameras in this price range - The touch screen interface is a bit 'cumbersome (sometimes feels like a rat maze when just trying to find a single
