By Corey Scott Originally I bought a Sony DSC-S950 for about half the price of this camera, but I'm back on the same day due to a defective light bulb flash. I decided to go to the W290, because I was not very happy with the S950 - it was cheap, and the missing features. I have put together this list of pros and cons of this camera. Do not let the list scare you against seemingly long, but they are all pretty small and not important enough for me to assess this unit is not less than 5 stars. I just felt it was necessary to list everything I could think of. Sorry, I could not adequately consider the possibility of HD video, because I have HD cables (see below), and my computer seems to be too slow to play HD video properly. Pros:-bright colors! I am very much satisfied with the colors impressed in my shots, especially when shooting outdoor landscape shots (it's primarily what I bought this camera) once shots with a tripod is also very well what so many details that you could see with their naked eye. Smile Shutter, as mentioned in previous reviews, works perfectly. One thing that seems to be no mention anywhere that if it is in Smile Shutter mode, it will continue automatically take pictures as long as they recognize the always smiling, which is very cool. So if you take a group picture, and you're one of those people who likes the same things with 3 shots "just in case", simply smile and keep the camera takes care of take over for you. -If there is a 3-shot burst mode where it automatically 3 Pictures, if you click the button: one with your standard-EV, one at-1eV, and also one at +1 EV (or different intervals, if you decide .) That a once-in-a-lifetime shot you take will have 3 different versions automatically, and you can choose the one they like best and delete the rest later, Intelligent Auto mode works great, it takes a lot of stress by taking pictures urgent. The only time I would not use it when I have a lot of time to plan a shot. Start time is fantastic! I've seen other complaints from people who say that this camera takes too long to start and be ready for use, but these people are increasingly impatient people, because this thing is faster than any other camera I've owned, digitally or otherwise. When you click the power button goal fires a lightning fast and the screen immediately displays the image, and is ready for action. Probably takes about 0.5 seconds to press the button to be ready for use. Cons: plastic on the LCD screen protrudes from the camera body, making it easier scratched. I recommend getting some screen protectors, as I am about to do to make the cable all-in-one is at the bottom of the camera, it will be great once the pier is available, but, however, is a place very uncomfortable to connect the cable. Force him to put the camera on the side of the lens or LCD (which, as mentioned above, is designed so that it can be scratched easily without a screen saver)-Does not come with HD video cables, only the usual yellow / red / white analog RCA cables. Seeing how this camera records HD video, it would be nice to play in HD on your TV without burning to a DVD first. You can buy Sony high-definition cable, if you really need, however. It comes with a rechargeable NP-BG1, which disables the camera's ability to show the remaining minutes. You have to buy the optional NP-FG1 battery to see it. This is the only difference, the two batteries have the same capacity. It was clearly designed this way to force us to a second battery to buy .. but that was fine with me because I am planning on buying one anyway. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone looking for a good quality point and shoot digital camera! 194 of 205 people found the following.
